Lead by the ethereal vocals of Carly Russ and the raspy snarl of Joseph Matick, Girlyboi puts a modern twist on the classic singer-songwriter duo formula, presenting a unique blend of folk and rock. Although original from the Midwest, the project was formed during a "reckless, whirlwind attempt at romance in Paris," Conceiving a lyrical voice that is at once honest and self-aware, what results is a moody sonic vibe of comprised of heartbreaking lows and climactic highs. Actual Woman, Girlyboi's debut EP, was released in 2015 at Rough Trade Records in Brooklyn. The band has so far been featured in Billboard, V Magazine and Hero Magazine.
